The Ferragamo Family—alongside Wanda Ferragamo
Probably the most coveted espresso desk books for any shoe enthusiast is Salvatore Ferragamo: The Art of the Shoe 1898-1960, which was first printed in 1992. Now 20-plus years later, Ferragamo’s life story strikes from the pages of a e book to a one-of-a-type exhibit, “The Amazing Shoemaker: Fairy Tales and Legends about Footwear and Shoemakers,” which celebrated its grand opening in Florence, Italy, yesterday on the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo.
Take a look at photographs from the opening that explores the function shoes play in fairy tales, myths and legends. Uncover why Ferragamo’s imaginative and prescient and brand remain the epitome of Italian luxurious.
The Ferragamo family—alongside Wanda Ferragamo, Salvatore’s widow and the brand’s honorary chairwoman—hosted the inaugural occasion that intimately revealed the magical life and legacy of the late designer through installations, comedian books, animation, quick movies, tales and antique treasures.
Ferragamo became a family name in the ’20s with the help of Hollywood, creating fabulous footwear for leading ladies corresponding to Audrey Hepburn, Katharine Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich.
“We are very proud to have organized such an extraordinary, singular occasion,” mentioned Ferruccio Ferragamo, the chairman of the Ferragamo Group. “We didn’t want one other model retrospective but rather an authentic production, presenting numerous works of art specifically commissioned for this exhibition, displayed facet-by-aspect with prestigious ancient pieces borrowed from other museums.”
The salvatore ferragamo milan fashion week exhibit was curated by Stefania Ricci, Sergio Risaliti, and Luca Scarlini.
Heading to Florence This exhibition can be open from now until March 31, 2014.
