Born on June 5, 1898 in the city of Bonito in Italy, Salvatore Ferragamo was famous for making and designing shoes for the celebrity in the course of the 1920s before founding its successful firm – the Ferragamo Firm. He was best known for introducing modern shoe designs and was the one liable for creating cage heel and wedge heel in the shoe trade.
Ferragamo was the eleventh little one among the brood of 14. At an early age of nine, he made first pair sneakers that he has given to his sisters. It was then that the younger Ferragamo realized his calling, which was creating and designing footwear. He and his brothers then moved to California where Ferragamo had tasted his first success in shoemaking. He soon catered for making sneakers for well-known celebrities and his creations grew to become prized items. He was even nicknamed “Shoemaker to the Stars,” a title which satisfied him just a little bit for he had at all times questioned why his shoes were so pleasing for the eyes yet did not provide consolation to its wearers. To seek out a solution to this dilemma, he attended the College of Southern California to review human anatomy.
In 1927, he moved back to Italy, based his personal company – Ferragamo, and continued making shoes for well-known individuals comparable to Eva Peron, Maharani of Cooch Behar, and Marilyn Monroe.
